SK Customs is proud to celebrate the roots of The Day of the Dead with “Santa Muerte.” Following the launch of Lady of Guadalupe in 2023 – which sold out in just four days – SK Customs is pleased to introduce the second production of the Saints series, a limited-edition production of 500 Colt 1911s chambered in .38 Super.
It is said that she is able to perform miracles for those in need and when they finish their cycle of life here on earth, she fulfills God’s orders and reaps the souls of the deceased.
Her role is to watch over the bones of the dead and preside over the ancient festivals of the dead. These festivals evolved from Aztec traditions into the modern Day of the Dead after synthesis with Spanish traditions, as she now presides over the contemporary festival as well. She is known as the “Lady of the Dead”, due to the belief that she was born, and then sacrificed as an infant. Mictēcacihuātl (the Aztec goddess of death) was represented with a flayed body with her jaw agape to swallow the stars during the day.
The slide features toned illustrations of roses that believers of Santa Muerte hold particularly sacred. Roses are holy to them because they are associated with Lady of Guadalupe and because, although beautiful and feminine, they have sharp thorns and will draw blood.
Other objects associated with Santa Muerte include scales, an hourglass, an owl and an oil lamp. The scales allude to equity, justice and impartiality, as well as divine will.
This symbolic, limited-edition Colt is made complete with Blood Grips made from Kirinite® with the iconic Rampant Colt.
