SK Customs is proud to introduce a new Series Production the Mayan Empire, Limited to only ONE of 500 Colt 1911s chambered in .38 Super.
The Mayan Empire stands as one of the most remarkable and sophisticated civilizations in ancient history. Flourishing from around 2000 B.C. to 1500 A.D., the Maya inhabited regions that now encompass Mexico and the Central Americas. They built vast cities deep within the jungles, adorned with towering pyramids, ceremonial plazas, and intricate carvings that reflected their deep devotion to religion, astronomy, and the natural world.
Unlike the later centralized Aztec Empire, the Mayan civilization was composed of independent city-states such as Tikal, Palenque, and Copán, each ruled by its own king and elite priesthood. Despite frequent rivalries, these city-states shared a common language base, religious beliefs, and cultural identity that united the region.
The Maya were brilliant astronomers and mathematicians, developing an advanced calendar system and one of the most complex writing scripts. Their architecture and engineering achievements continue to amaze scholars, from the precision of pyramid alignments with celestial events to the grandeur of temples that still stand today.

Religion played a central role in Mayan life, centered on cycles of nature, deities representing the sun, rain, and maize, and the balance between life and death. Rituals and offerings were performed to maintain cosmic harmony and ensure agricultural prosperity.
Though the civilization declined centuries before Spanish contact, the legacy of the Maya endures through their descendants, language, and cultural traditions that remain deeply woven into the fabric of modern Mexican and Central American identity.
Among the most celebrated figures in Mayan history stands K’inich Janaab’ Pakal, known as Pakal the Great, ruler of the powerful city-state of Palenque. Ascending to the throne in 615 A.D., Pakal transformed Palenque into one of the most magnificent centers of Mayan civilization. His reign, lasting nearly seven decades, marked a golden age of cultural, architectural, and scientific achievement. Under his leadership, Palenque’s grand temples—most famously the Temple of the Inscriptions, which houses Pakal’s elaborately carved sarcophagus—were constructed as lasting symbols of Mayan ingenuity and reverence for their gods.

The detail in the artwork is absolutely gorgeous. If I owned it,it would stay under a glass case, it would only come out to be oiled and cleaned.

Very distinguished looking and if they work as well as the 1911 I carried in Vietnam then they are a masterpiece of workmanship
