SK Customs, part of SK Arms, has partnered with Smith & Wesson to make a limited run of 200 “Zeus” 1911 pistols. The second in their “Gods of Olympus Engraver Series,” the Zeus pistol features detailed engravings with copper and gold plating and even a diamond bead front sight.
“We are really excited to see this one come together and like so many of our SK Customs offerings, it’s truly unique,” said the company’s owner, Simon Khiabani. “These guns are true works of art, and we know 1911 enthusiasts and collectors alike are going to be seriously impressed when they get their hands on one, a perfect to pair with “Poseidon which debuted earlier this year launching the Gods of Olympus Engravers Series by collaborating with award winning FEGA Master Engraver Melissa McMinn.”
Built on a full-size Smith & Wesson 1911, the Zeus is chambered for .45 ACP with custom engravings that blend right in with Smith & Wesson’s signature slide serrations. Every Zeus pistol is polished to a satin finish before adding the artwork.
“To immortalize some of Zeus’s absolute powers, the slide, frame and grips feature cloud engraved scroll to represent his rule of the sky and weather,” said SK Customs. “Picturesque artwork on the sides of the slide intensifies visual depictions of Zeus directing lighting, thunder, rain and strong winds with his thunderbolts as a mighty force of punishment.”
“Zeus is portrayed in 24-carat gold plating, with his companion Eagle, Aetos Dios, soaring steadfast selectively copper plated.” The pistols sport Novak sights including a center-set yellow diamond front sight to elevate the design to great heights.
SK Customs finishes the slides with a proprietary conversion coating that produces a reflective sky blue background. A set of engraved pearl grips ties everything together, with Greek meander engraving along the borders.
The slide locks, extended thumb safeties, hammer, barrel bushing, magazine release buttons and other select small parts are also gold-plated to match the artwork. It has a modern extended grip safety and fine checkering along the frontstrap and flat mainspring housing for improved control.
“Each collector of Zeus in the Gods of Olympus Engravers Series will receive a special issued commemorative 1-ounce high relief silver coin that features the observe marks of the Bank of Greece in Athens, the year of production and a profile of the Goddess Athena on one side,” said SK Customs. “The reverse side showcases Zeus grasping his thunderbolts atop of Mount Olympus with Aetos Dios soaring by his side.”
The asking price for these collectors’ pistols is $2,800. SK expects to begin shipping before the end of February next year. For more information about these and other detailed custom works, head over to SK Arms today.
