Last year SK Customs released the first in its Lost States of America Engravers Series with Jacinto – Sam Houston (below). The 1911 commemorated General Sam Houston and the battle of Jacinto, avenging the massacre at the Alamo. This year, SK Customs releases its second in the series with the Franklin “John Sevier,” who led Franklin to declare independence from North Carolina. Franklin represents the early American concept that “if your government is not representing you, then it’s your right and your duty to throw off that government and establish a new one.”
Series – Franklin – John Sevier
The Lost State of Franklin adds intricate details to a full-size government model Colt 1911 in .45 ACP to commemorate Tennessee’s rich history. Likewise, the pistol honors Tennessee’s iconic founding father, General Sevier in striking detail and 24K gold accents. A high-polish steel frame and slide provide the canvas, highlighting the masterfully engraved story.
On the right side of the slide is a 24K gold-plated map of the region with the state of Franklin set off in silver. Surrounding the map is deep-etched floral scrollwork with selective gold plating highlighting the Tulip Poplar blossoms of the state tree. Behind the aggressive cocking serrations is Benjamin Franklin’s coat of arms sitting stop the special edition number. The number denotes the pistol’s place as one of 200.
The obverse side of the slide depicts the Battle of Franklin in 24K gold detail. Just forward the scene is a scroll that reads “Battle of Franklin,” also set off in gold. As with the right side, the left side also features the Tulip Poplar floral scrollwork surrounding Franklin’s Declaration of Rights. Just rear of the cocking serrations is the iconic Colt logo set off with gold plating.
Adorning the top of the slide is a portrait of General John Sevier along with the Great Seal of Tennessee. Sitting just below the Seal is a scroll stating, “The Lost State of Franklin,” with a subtle floral accent. The portrait, Seal, and scroll are all detailed in 24K gold plating.
Adding to the overall gold accents, all of the controls feature 24K gold plating. Additionally, the grips are made of genuine Oak Tennessee whiskey barrels and feature a 24K gold horse on each grip.
Only 200 of the Lost State of Franklin will be available, and each will include a corresponding challenge coin.
