SK Customs is proud to introduce the third iteration of the Saints series, featuring San Judas (translated: Saint Jude), Limited to only ONE of 500 Colt 1911s chambered in .38 Super.
San Judas Tadeo, commonly known as St. Jude Thaddeus, is one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ, often remembered as the patron saint of lost causes and desperate situations. His devotion in Mexico is deeply rooted in Catholic tradition, but has taken on unique cultural significance over the past century. The veneration of San Judas dates to colonial times when Spanish missionaries introduced Catholic saints to the Americas. His popularity in Mexico grew substantially during the 20th century, especially among the poor, marginalized and working-class communities.
Every year, on October 28th, thousands of faithful gather at the San HipĂłlito Church in Mexico City, which has become the epicenter of his devotion. Pilgrims carry statues and images of San Judas, often adorned in green and gold robes, as a sign of gratitude for miracles or in hope of divine assistance. His figure has come to symbolize hope for those who feel overlooked by society, such as street vendors, laborers, migrants and even people entangled in crime or hardship.
Culturally, San Judas Tadeo embodies the blending of traditional Catholic faith with contemporary Mexican expressions of identity and resilience. His image is frequently seen on jewelry, murals and home altars, reflecting both deep spirituality and personal connection. While some controversies exist around his association with marginalized groups, his role as a symbol of faith, protection and solidarity remains powerful. In Mexican culture, San Judas is not only a saint but a representation of perseverance, compassion and divine aid in life’s most difficult struggles.
“San Judas” will be a limited-edition production run of only 500 Full Size Government Model Colt 1911s chambered in .38 Super. Each pistol will include a special engraved edition number.
Details on the left and right sides of the gun’s slide include engraved doves representing the Holy Spirit, surrounded by flames representing Pentecost, the day the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples of Jesus Christ. Adorning Columba flowers – representing doves– were chosen for the shape of the flowers. The stem usually holds seven flowers, symbolizing the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit. An elegant scroll engraved in 24k gold with deep shading beautifies the slide even more.
The top of the slide embodies San Judas (Saint Jude) holding his staff and a medallion with the face of Jesus on it, featuring a flame above his head and a Columba flower envisioned as a dove with wings open.
The back right panel of the slide shows a special edition number 001 of 500 within a designed scroll, with the left side of the slide panel showing the Mandylion of Edessa. This is said to be a linen towel that had touched the face of Christ and retained his features from the sweat of his brow, imprinting on the cloth.
The frame, slide, barrel and hardware are all highly polished and feature 24k gold plating of select areas and controls in a deep Colt Royal Blue finish. This historical masterpiece is made complete with the finest Green Pearl Kirinite grips and the iconic Rampant Colt in gold.
